The Frazee Area Community Club will host its annual meet and greet at the Frazee Event Center on Thursday. The public event begins with a social at 5:30 p.m. with a free potato bar. The main purpose of this evening is to bring businesses and community groups together. Part of the evening will include introductions and information about businesses and civic groups.

The Frazee High School wrestling program earned second in state and a big round of applause from head coach Clay Nagel. In individuals, Tanner Tappe took second, Luke Tweeton fourth and Michael Miller fifth.

Mark the calendars, reserve the night of Saturday, March 10 and plan to attend the annual Frazee Sportsman Club raffle at the Frazee Event Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. A mountain of prizes will be given out and there will be an opportunity for catching up with old friends and meeting new ones while enjoying a home-cooked meal of pulled pork sandwiches and all the fixings.

Frazee was recently named as a Tree City USA. This is the first year Frazee has received the national recognition. The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service. Mayor Russ Vikesland and Keith Myhrer, utility supervisor, will be attending a Tree City  USA awards ceremony Tuesday, March 10, at the University of Minnesota, Crookston.

A lone offer of $20,000 for the former United Community Bank building will be decided on tonight. The Frazee Economic Development Authority will meet at 7 p.m. at the Frazee Fire Hall to decide on whether to accept or reject the offer. Kevin Ketter was the only person to hand in a written offer at the EDA meeting Friday afternoon. Ketter outlined his plans for the building.

After his long vigil at Frazee’s main intersection, the little tom is on his way to Wisconsin for a makeover. The Frazee Community Club is raising funds to make over little tom and to replace big tom. The cost estimate is about $20,000 for the entire project. Big tom will be replaced with a new fiberglass model in time for Turkey Days.

The Frazee High School pop group will be the main feature at the pop concert on Friday, March 9 at 8 p.m. in the Lower Elementary Auditorium at Frazee. The pop group will be wearing new red, white and blue vests with white turtle necks and navy blue flares. Several groups will be featured on recent pop numbers such as “Sounds of Silence,” “All I Ever Need is You,” “Country Roads” and “California Dreamin.”

The CYO will hold a roller skating party on Thursday, March 8 for grades 7-8 at the Perham 4-H Building. The bus will leave Sacred Heart Church at 7 p.m. Cost for evening will be 40c for skates and 10c for bus ride.

Frazee won the District 23 girls gymnastics meet for the second straight year on Saturday. Eleven teams and 210 girls participated in the meet that was hosted by Frazee. Lorie Richard of Frazee won the beginner all-around trophy and Lyndes Johnson of Perham won the trophy at the intermediate level.

Becker County voters will go to the polls Tuesday, March 13, to determine whether or not the county will replace the old Sunnyside Nursing Home with a new all-modern, 63-bed facility. Voters will cast their Yes or No ballot on the following Bond Proposition at the special referendum election.
