Notes from the Chief

Friday, Feb. 24

2:07 p.m. Report of threats being made at the Dollar General store. Apparently a male party tried to return $200 worth of pots and pans. The items were stolen from the outside displays.  Cashier recognized male as the same person who tried the same thing last summer at various stores. The info was shared between stores and the cashier denied the return. Male made some threats and called the store after he left. Cashier also shared the info from today with other stores in the area.

Saturday, Feb. 25

3:29 p.m. Report of a car in the ditch on Co Rd 134.  UTL

8:28 p.m. Report of two dogs fighting inside an apartment.  Dogs were mutually fighting so not enough to arrest on.

Sunday, Feb. 26

8:42 a.m. Report of a loose dog.  Owner was warned of the dog being off a leash.

8:12 p.m. Officer provided copy of new ordinance to violators.

Monday, Feb. 27

8:55 a.m. Assist with a one vehicle rollover on US Hwy 10.

11:03 a.m. Vehicle unlock on 513th St.

12:42 p.m. Female reporting that her phone and purse were left in a vehicle that was in Frazee. Male claimed that he bought the phone for the female so he smashed it and threw it away. Male did not locate purse in the car. Male then asked that officer ask that the female quit calling and texting him or he would file a harassment report.

2:51 p.m. Assist with locating the owner of a vehicle that was involved in a theft. The registered owner lives in town but recently traded the vehicle. She provided a signed title for an officer that she received in the trade. Info relayed to the Detroit Lakes PD.

4:44 p.m. Assist with a medical which turned into a death by natural causes.

Tuesday, Feb. 28

3:29 p.m. Report of a loose dog on Fir Ave. Owner warned to keep the dog in their fenced yard.

4:48 p.m. Assist with a medical.

6:34 p.m. Welfare check requested on male party.  Male was found and was ok.

7:56 p.m. Report of a dog running off. Dog was located by owner.

Wednesday, March 1

12:54 p.m. Deliver copy of new city ordinance to violator.

Thursday, March 2

8:18 p.m. Officer saw male party on W. Main acting strange. Male had an attitude with officer when he asked if he could help. The male’s mother lived close by and he was waiting for her.

7:13 p.m. Two kids, ages 10-13, riding scooters down N. Lake St. Officer told the kids to get out of the street and use the sidewalk.

Friday, March 3

9:40 a.m. Report of possible criminal sexual conduct. Under investigation.

Saturday, March 4

4:01 p.m. 911 hang-up on E. Juniper. No distress in the area.

1:10 a.m. Alarm at the high school. Building was secure.

Sunday, March 5

8:52 a.m. Report of a dog barking for long periods of time. Dog owners were notified of the complaint.

Monday, March 6

8:39 a.m. Assist with a delivery truck that was stuck.

  9:14 a.m. Officer saw the side door on semi-trailer come open and a two-wheel cart fell out. Officer picked up the cart and brought it to the driver at his next stop. 

11:36 a.m. Female calling PD asking for an update to a case. Officer relayed the information that the case was under investigation.

12:37 p.m. Order For Protection paperwork served to a male party in town.

1:54 p.m. Assist with a 911 hang-up on Valley View Rd.

Tuesday, March 7

7:33 p.m. Assist with a DWI stop on US Hwy 10. Frazee officer picked up a child after the mother was arrested for DWI by a county deputy.

9:33 p.m. Report of the theft of a table from a downtown business.

Wednesday, March 8

10:37 a.m. 911 hang-up at the high school. Phone number was traced to a student. Most likely a butt dial.

2:39 p.m. Female reporting that she received an email from Venmo wanting to verify her identity.  Female said she has never used Venmo. She did not respond to the email and was told to delete it.

5:37 p.m. Complaint of a vehicle parked on the sidewalk on S. Lake St.

5:48 p.m. Citizen asking about shooting firearms in the county but near city limits. Officer gave advice to practice safe shooting practices and it should not be an issue.

6:23 p.m. Vehicle sitting on and end of W Maple Ave acting suspicious. Elderly male was pulled over trying his luck with some scratch off lotto tickets.

Thursday, March 9

9 a.m. Officer traveled to Fargo for a forensic interview.

8:34 p.m. Disturbance on S. Lake St. Family issues with alcohol involved. Officer was able to mediate the situation.
