Katie Courneya, Ben Reierson, and Jayden Sonnenberg of Frazee advanced to the Knight of Columbus State competition to be held Saturday, April 1, in St. Cloud.

The Knights of Columbus recently hosted their 2023 Region 6 Free Throw Championship on Sunday, March 5 at Sauk Centre High School. The event drew the winners of area district level contests from across central and west central Minnesota. Competitors from communities along the Highway 10 corridor (Detroit Lakes, Frazee, Hawley, and Perham) dominated the region competition, winning 9 out of the 12 division championships.

Girls’ division champions from Frazee included Katie Courneya and Jayden Sonnenberg.

Region champions crowned in the boys’ division included Ben Reierson from Frazee.

Each of the winners from Frazee sank an impressive 22 out of 25 of their free throw attempts. The region champions will now compete in the State competition to be held on Saturday, April 1 in St. Cloud, with an eye on moving to the international level.

The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded in 1882 to assist working-class and immigrant Catholics in the United States, today the approximately two million members of the Knights put their faith into action through a broad range of charitable causes locally, nationally, and internationally with financial contributions and hands-on service.
