The Frazee High School robotics team accomplished something no other team in the state has done at the World Robotics competition April 25-28 in Detroit, Mich. Program advisor Andy Paulson reported Frazee’s team, KAOTIC (Keeping Ahead of Technology in Communities) Robotics, sent 22 of its hardest-working team members and returned the only team in the state to rank first in a division at the world championship event. Minnesota has had a high school league robotics program since 2006.
The city crew of Frazee acquired an Elgin Pelican Street Sweeper, potentially saving the city thousands. In recent years the city has hired a company to come and sweep the streets in the spring and parts of the city later in the summer. Utilities Superintendent Larry Stephenson said outsourcing that job cost about $4,400. The late 1990s model with a 4 cylinder John Deere diesel engine cost the city less than $3,500 at an insurance auction.
