Frazee split a pair of games in non-conference action last week. The Hornets opened the week with a 4-2 win over Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale, before falling to Park Rapids Area by a score of 5-2 on Friday.

With the split last week the Hornets are now 3-3 on the season.

This week the Hornets will host Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton in a doubleheader on Tuesday night, before traveling to Hawley for a doubleheader on Thursday.

Tuesday

Mark Jaroszewski broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the seventh inning to put the Frazee Hornets in front for good on Tuesday night. Zach Longfors and Caden Frank led off the inning with back-to-back singles, before Jaroszewski hit a single to left field to bring Longfors around to score. The Hornets got a bit of breathing room later in the inning when Asher Blaine hit an RBI single of his own to bring Frank across the plate to make the score 4-2.

Derek Zitzow wasted little time sending the Raiders hitters down in order to end the seventh inning as he struck out all 3 hitters he faced to pick up the save and secure the 4-2 win.

Blaine picked up the win on the mound as he pitched 6 innings and gave up just 3 hits and 1 earned run, while striking out 13 hitters.

Offensively, Blaine led the way with 3 hits, while Longfors and Frank each finished with a pair of hits.

Friday

Frazee outhit Park Rapids Area 5-3 in their home opener on Friday night, but the Hornets couldn’t overcome 5 errors to fall to the Panthers by a score of 5-2.

Park Rapids broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fourth inning on a 2-run single with two outs to make the score 2-0. Frazee knotted the game up at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Mark Jaroszewski hit an RBI single and Caden Frank scored when Derek Zitzow reached on an error to tie the game up at 2-2.

The Panthers took the lead for good in the top half of the seventh inning when they scored a run on a sacrifice bunt and an error by the catcher to make the score 4-2. The Panthers added another run later in the inning to make the score 5-2.

Frazee went down in order in the bottom of the seventh inning to fall 5-2.

Derek Zitzow took the loss on the mound in relief. He pitched 1 inning and gave up 1 unearned run and didn’t give up a hit.
