The Frazee Hornets came out on the short end of a pair of Heart O’ Lakes Conference doubleheaders against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton and Hawley last week.

On Saturday the Hornets dropped all three games in their home tournament against three tough opponents. The Hornets fell to Pequot Lakes by a score of 16-0, Roseau by a score of 13-7 and Sebeka by a score of 10-5.

This week the Hornets hosted Menahga on Monday night, before they traveled to Park Rapids Area on Tuesday in a pair of non-conference games.

On Friday the Hornets will travel to Breckenridge for a doubleheader against the Cowgirls.

Tuesday

The Frazee Hornets dropped a pair of games to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton by scores of 17-0 and 10-0 on Tuesday night.

In the opening game of the night, DGF was able to break a scoreless tie in the second inning with 3 runs, before adding a run in the third inning, 2 in the fifth inning, 3 in the sixth inning and 1 more in the top of the seventh inning.

The Hornets were able to get 3 hits in the game with Kate Vigen, Faith Hamm and Riyan Eckert each picking up one.

In the second game of the night, DGF was able to collect 15 hits and had a pair of big innings by scoring 6 runs in the second inning and 8 more in the third inning to come away with the win.

Alexis Heaton and Evie Seim each collected a hit in the loss.

Thursday

Frazee found quite a bit of success offensively on Thursday, but ultimately came out on the short end of a pair of HOL losses against Hawley.

In the first game of the night, Hawley scored single runs in the first, fifth, sixth and seventh innings to come away with a 4-1 win over the Hornets.

Frazee’s lone run came on an Ashely Malikowski’s RBI single in the bottom of the fifth inning that brought Kate Vigen around to score. Despite scoring just one run, the Hornets had a number of chances to bring a run across the plate as they stranded the bases loaded in the first and fourth innings and stranded runners in scoring position in the sixth inning.

Vigen and Malikowski each finished the game with a pair of hits.

In the nightcap, Ally Bessler and Riyan Eckert combined for 7 hits as the Hornets came out on the short end of a 14-6 loss. The big difference in the game was in the second and third inning as the Nuggets scored 13 of their 14 runs in those two innings.

After scoring a pair of runs in the second inning, Ashley Malikowski hit a big 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to highlight a strong game at the plate for the Hornets.

Bessler led the way offensively with 4 hits, while Eckert finished with 3 hits for Frazee.
