Tomorrow, May 15, would have been Cheryl Glawe’s 45th birthday. Cheryl’s death eight months ago on Sept. 16, 1997, shocked her husband Kevin, other family members, and friends. It also garnered local, regional, and national media attention. She had been taking Redux, a weight loss drug, for 38 days, said her friend Penny Hanson. The drug was pulled from the market while the Glawes were on their way home from a trip to Colorado. Cheryl died just hours after she and Kevin returned home to Vergas. Tomorrow evening, friends will gather informally at the cemetery. Then at 7:30 p.m., people are welcome to come help eighth completion of the memorial garden at the ballpark.

Since taking the class for her own enjoyment, the Frazee woman has launched a busy home-based business making cakes for all kinds of special occasions. She also makes decorator mints.
