Section meet to be held in Pelican Rapids

The Frazee girls track team finished as the sub section runner up on Thursday in Pelican Rapids. The Hornets finished with a score of 76 points and trailed just Perham with 148 points in the standings. The boys track team finished in fifth place with 55 points. 

In all, 29 Hornets advanced to the section meet, which is set for Thursday in Pelican Rapids. 

Hailey Selly (13.29) and Brynn Larson (13.51) advanced to sections after taking second and fifth place respectively in the 100-meter dash. 

Elsie Ratz advanced to sections after taking third place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.74, while Maddie Perrine took fourth place in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:47.37. 

In the 100-meter hurdles, Olivia Petron (17.76) and Kaydence Mayfield (18.18) finished in fourth and fifth place, while Selly (49.53), Mayfield (50.65) and Petron (53.15) took fifth, sixth and 10th place in the 300-meter hurdles. 

The 4×100-meter relay team of Autumn Hiemenz, Petron, Lainey Jacobson and Aubree Bristlin took fifth place with a time of 55.16 and the 4×400-meter relay team of Ratz, Brynn Larson, Jayden Sonnenberg and Selly took second place with a time of 4:11.85. 

In the field events, Larson (5’) and Sonnenberg (4’10”) advanced to sections in the high jump after finishing in first and third place, while Hiemenz took sixth place in the pole vault with a vault of 6’11”. 

Selly captured first place in the long jump with a jump of 16’5 1/2”, while Petron took sixth place with a jump of 15’4 1/2”. 

In the triple jump, Sonnenberg (34’11”) took third place and Mayfield (33’8 3/4”) took sixth place. 

The final Hornet to qualify for sections was Leslie Moore in the shot put as she took sixth place with a throw of 29’8”. 

On the boys side, Alex Helmers qualified for sections in the 200-meter dash after taking sixth place with a time of 24.98. 

Roy Hoehne captured first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.55, while Jonah Sharp advanced to sections in both the 1600-meter run (5:23.53) and 3200-meter run (11:45.47). 

The 4×200-meter relay team of Hoehne, Helmers, Brady Crabtree and Brady Borah took third place with a time of 1:39.45. 

In the field events, Crabtree took third place in the pole vault with a vault of 11’9”, while Helmers took second place in the long jump with a jump of 19’5 1/2”. 

Aidan Aldrige took third place in the shot put with a throw of 38’5” and captured first place in the discus with a throw of 112’1”. Hunter Lyman also advanced to sections with a throw of 105’5”.
