A Frazee man was injured in a two-car collision on U.S. Highway 10 in Hawley Thursday, July 27.

Douglas William Collins, 33, of Frazee, was eastbound on Highway 10 in a 2006 Honda Pilot that was stopped at the stoplight at County Road 31 intersection in Hawley.

Matt Dahmen Nelson, 42, of Fargo, was driving eastbound on Highway 10 and failed to stop at the red light and rear-ended Collins’ Honda.

The crash was reported at 8:57 a.m., on dry pavement. Collins suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Sanford Health in Fargo for treatment. Nelson was not injured.

Both parties were wearing seatbelts and  alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to the accident report.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Hawley Emergency Response Team, and Hawley Police Department assisted at the scene.

Fergus Falls man killed in motorcycle crash

A Fergus Falls man died when his motorcycle collided with a van four miles northeast of the Elizabeth Saturday July 22.

Michael Wayne Korby, 39, of Fergus Falls was southbound riding a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle on County Road 22 when he collided with a 2013 Mercedes-Benz FedEx delivery van.

The northbound van, driven by Jacob Tyler Wells, 26, of West Fargo, made a left turn in front of Korby at Jewett Lake Road causing the crash, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, first responders found Korby had suffered fatal injuries.

Wells was issued a citation and was uninjured in the crash that happened at approximately 4 p.m. The incident remains under investigation.

The Minnesota State Patrol, Elizabeth Fire Department, Ringdahl Ambulance Service of Fergus Fall, and Beyer Towing of Fergus Falls assisted at the scene.
