Enjoy the beautiful fall colors and celebrate National Public Lands Day at Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge Saturday, Sept. 23.

Join North Country Trail Association members for an afternoon of hiking. Meet at the Visitor Center and carpool to the beginning trailheads. You’ll have the option of a three or five-mile hike. It’s recommended to wear an item of blaze orange. After the hikes, participants are welcomed to have ice cream at the Visitor Center.

Established in 1994 and held annually on the fourth Saturday in September, National Public Lands Day is traditionally the nation’s largest single-day volunteer effort. It celebrates the connection between people and green space in their community, inspires environmental stewardship, and encourages use of open space for education, recreation, and health benefits.
