The Frazee Hornets capped off a busy end of the week on Saturday at one of the largest cross country meets in the region. The Hornets competed in the annual Border Battle in Grand Forks, which features nearly 75 teams from Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Canada. In addition to Saturday’s meet, the Hornets competed at the John Hermes Invitational in Fergus Falls.
This week the Hornets will compete in a meet in Hawley on Thursday night.
Thursday
The Frazee Hornets made the trek to Fergus Falls on Thursday for the annual John Hermes Invitational.
The Hornet boys team finished in fourth place with a score of 104 and were led by Jonah Sharp who took 15th place with a time of 19:59. He was followed closely by Brady Borah who took 18th place with a time of 20:28, while Cael Pausch took 23rd place with a time of 22:48, Alex Helmers finished in 24th place with a time of 23:05 and Tyden Schaefer took 28th place with a time of 23:47.
On the girls side, Madi Perrine took 21st place overall with a time of 24:41 to lead the charge for the Hornets.
Lola Hoehn took 23rd place with a time of 25:46, Caleigh Pausch took 26th place with a time of 27:57, Bristol Larsen took 28th place with a time of 28:24 and Emersyn Wake took 31st place with a time of 42:32.
As a team the Hornets took fifth place with a score of 129.
Saturday
In one of the largest meets across the upper Midwest, the Hornets traveled to Grand Forks, N.D. on Saturday for the annual Border Battle. The meet featured nearly 75 teams from three states and Canada, which is divided into Class A and Class AA teams.
On the girls side, Lola Hoehne took 92nd place with a time of 23:27, while Caleigh Pausch took 152nd place with a time of 25:47. Both of the teams are season best times for Hoehne and Pausch.
Also competing was Bristol Larsen who took 115th place with a time of 26:34.
On the boys side, the top five Hornet runners all posted season best times with Jonah Sharp leading the way with a time of 19:03 to finish in 87th place. Brady Borah finished in 90th place with a time of 19:08, Cael Pausch finished in 112th place with a time of 19:37, Tyden Schaefer finished in 172nd place with a time of 21:23, Alex Helmers finished in 187th place with a time of 22:10 and Daniel Winn finished in 223rd place with a time of 28:42.
As a team the Hornets finished in 26th place overall with a score of 573 points. There were 32 complete teams competing in the race.
