Jess Steinbrenner has been hired as the new assistant human services director for Otter Tail County.

Jess Steinbrenner has been hired by Otter Tail County to serve as Assistant Human Services Director. Deb Sjostrom, long-time Director of Human Services, introduced Steinbrenner to county commissioners as she was welcomed at a recent board meeting.

“The role of the Assistant Human Services Director focuses on business operations, integrated service delivery, and provides for capacity building. Jess brings a wealth of experience to accomplish this, and we are fortunate and grateful she has joined the Otter Tail County Human Services team,” said Sjostrom.

This is not Steinbrenner’s first role with Otter Tail County. From 2008-2012 she served as the Public Information and Education Officer in Otter Tail County’s Solid Waste Department. Since that time, she has spent much of her career working in a variety of social work roles. Recently, she served as the Regional Clinical Manager for the State of Minnesota Direct Care and Treatment program, providing clinical oversight and support at four treatment settings, including two inpatient psychiatric hospitals, a residential chemical dependency program, and an intensive residential treatment setting. Prior to that role, she worked as a therapist and clinical supervisor at the Fergus Falls Community Behavioral Health Hospital, working with individuals who had been civilly committed to treatment.

Steinbrenner grew up on a dairy farm in North Dakota. She earned a bachelor’s degree in geography and a master’s degree in social work and is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration. She lives with her husband Jon and their three children in Fergus Falls where she and her family are active in the community.

“I feel privileged to serve alongside the Otter Tail County Human Services team,” said Steinbrenner. “I look forward to supporting increased collaboration and integration of services both within the department and beyond.”

County commissioners welcomed Steinbrenner and acknowledged her education and experience as important assets as she works to serve the people of Otter Tail County.
