The Frazee City council purchased an appraisal for $5,000 of the Baumgart Auto Repair property along West Maple Avenue. The appraisal is being sought after the property owner, Mike Baumgart, contested the special assessments placed upon his business. He filed the appropriate grievances during the requested time frame, and presented the council with his own appraisal, which suggested the $21,000 assessment did not increase the property value by that amount.
The Frazee-Vergas School Board met on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the Media Center in the high school. The meeting time had been moved to the Tuesday date from the regular second Monday of the month by the school board. The school board reviewed an issue of the school forest property and a cabin on that property that is owned by Dean Albertson. The question of whether the cabin could be donated to the school district had been posed.
Shopping on small business Saturday (Nov. 24) can be a great opportunity to search for that perfectly unique gift. The Vergas Community Club added to the fun by organizing an Old Fashioned Christmas celebration from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Jake Sayer, 13, rural Frazee, son of Mike and Nancy, took down a big 9-point buck north of Frazee opening deer hunting morning (Nov. 7) while hunting with his uncle Ken Maves of Frazee. Jake shot the buck with a .30-.30-caliber rifle. Last year, Jake shot a 7-point buck in the same location. This year’s buck had four points on one side and five on the other. It weighed 200 pounds dressed out.
People won’t be lacking for activities in Frazee this holiday season with the Frazee Community Club’s energetic lineup. The Community Club is working o the Festival of Trees, Tour of Homes, Hospice Light Up A Life Program, Santa Claus visits and Former Miss Frazee’s and Contestants Variety Show.

The City Limits Club in Frazee is now closed for the winter, it was announced today by Vernon and Carolyn Riemann, owners. The supper club, located at the east edge of town, has been open weekends. The Riemann’s said a recent break-in at the club prompted the closing. The club was broken into last Wednesday night and some $65 worth of steaks, beer and candy were stolen. Seafood was also strewn over the floor.
Bob’s Lanes in Frazee is offering a Thanksgiving weekend Chicken and Turkey Special on Nov. 22-23-24 with free prizes for open bowling high and low scores during the three days. The prizes will be Marv & Sandy’s Wonderoast chickens and turkeys. You can bowl as often as you wish at the regular price and have a chance to win a ready Sandy’s WondeRoast chicken or turkey.
