Grace and Hope Hamm wrapped up their swim season on Minnesota’s biggest stage last week as the pair competed in the state swimming and diving meet. The meet was held at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the University of Minnesota campus. 

Junior Hope Hamm competed in the diving competition and finished in 21st place in the preliminary dives. She finished with a score of 137.15. 

Her sister, seventh grader Grace Hamm competed in the 100-yard butterfly at state. She finished in 13th place in the preliminaries and finished with a time of 1:01.34 to qualify for Saturday’s finals.

In the finals, Hamm took 14th place with a time of 1:01.53 to wrap up her seventh grade season in the pool at the state meet. Nine of the 13 girls who finished in front of Hamm were either a junior or senior.

The Hamms compete for the Detroit Lakes swimming team.
