Jim Ulmer offers handmade, usable gifts that double as art. The process of creating a pottery piece, whether it is a vase, mug, plate, spoon holder…is time consumer and the kiln firing process is finicky. Ulmer starts with a ball of clay and a vision in his brain. Then, he crafts and forms the ball of clay into a work of art that is placed in a kiln to harden before being glazed and placed in the kiln a second time.

The Chic Shed Junque Boutique has moved to Main Avenue in Frazee. The shop, owned by Aleisa Jopp, offers decor, furniture, homemade soaps, homemade salsa, Wildtree products and more was previously located along Lake Street. The building owners, Amber and Brad Bender, decided the realty office could be run in the smaller space that Jopp was using, and offered the larger space for her retail store.

Discussions of closing the Third Crossing Bar and Grill were had during a special Frazee City Council meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 27. The topic was broached after the operation’s manager tendered her resignation the day of the meeting. In her resignation letter, she wrote, “I, Mindy Heinz, hereby submit my letter of resignation to the City of Frazee, Third Crossing Bar and Grill. Due to personal reasons, I must regretfully resign from my position.” The council unanimously accepted the resignation and then focused on concerns that were reported in recent months.
