Becker County to seek aggravated sentence

A Frazee man has been charged in Becker County District Court with two felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to court records, Shawn Louis Boit, 45, had sexual contact with a girl under the age of 14 on more than one occasion.

The girl completed a forensic interview at the Red River Children’s Advocacy Center on Thursday, Dec. 14. The conclusion of that interview led to the criminal charges.

The following day, bail or bond for Boit were set at $200,000 with no conditions, or $100,000 with conditions that include no contact with the victim, no mood altering chemicals, and no unsupervised contact with minors under the age of 16.

Two weeks later, the Becker County Attorney’s Office notified the defense team that it intends to seek an aggravated sentence. An aggravated sentence is one that is higher than the default recommendations for sentencing.
