Frazee takes second as a team at conference meet

As a team the Hornets finished in second place with a team score of 190. DGF took first place with a score of 212 1/2, while Perham took third place with 183 points. 

On Thursday night the Hornets traveled to New York Mills for a triangular against United Clay Becker and the host NY Mills team. The Hornets swept both duals to improve to 15-7 on the season. The Hornets defeated UCB by a score of 66-12 and NY Mills by a score of 45-15. 

This week the Hornets will travel to Menahga for a triangular against United North Central and Crookston, before hosting Perham and Barnesville on Friday in a triangular. 

Friday

Fifteen Hornets placed and three wrestlers were crowned as champion at the Heart O’ Lakes Conference meet in Barnesville on Friday. 

Liam Hamm captured first place at 121 lbs. as he went 3-0 in a round robin tournament. He was able to pick up a pair of pins, as well as a 5-1 decision over Kody Johnson of United Clay Becker in the third round to capture first.

Cade Nagel took first place at 160 lbs. in one of the most exciting matches of the day in the championship. Nagel edged Carsen Zeise by a 4-2 decision tie breaker to come away with first place. He secured a pair of close decisions in the opening two rounds of the tournament to advance to the championship match. 

Also capturing first place was Derek Zitzow a pair of pins and a 3-0 decision to take first place at 285 lbs. 

Preston Mayfield took second place in the tournament after he fell to Cameron Halverson of Barnesville in the championship match by a pin at the 2:24 mark of the championship match. He advanced to the finals with a pin and decision. 

Jack Graham also placed second at 189 lbs. after securing a pin the opening round and an 8-1 decision in the semi-finals. In the finals, Graham fell to Casey Macziewski of DGF by a pin at the 41 second mark of the match.
