The Frazee Hornets secured their first conference win of the season on Jan. 23 when the Hornets picked up a 50-41 win over the Hawley Nuggets.

The Hornets shot just 27 percent from the field, but were able to overtake the Nuggets thanks to 11 offensive rebounds that led to second chance points and a dominate performance from the free throw line where they went 16-20 for the game.

Jayden Sonnenberg had a solid night from the field as she scored 16 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Brynn Larson scored 15 points to go along with 5 rebounds, while Katie Courneya finished with 6 points.

Ashley Malikowski scored 6 points and pulled down 8 rebounds, 7 of which came on the offensive end of the court. Hailey Selly rounded out the scoring with 4 points and 4 rebounds.

This week the Hornets will host Menahga on Tuesday night, before traveling to Ada-Borup West on Thursday and hosting Perham on Friday night.
