The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship drew 15 competitors with six advancing to the district competition in Detroit Lakes Feb. 11.

The Sacred Heart Council #12581 of the Knights of Columbus held their 2024 Free Throw Championship on Sunday, Jan. 21 at the Frazee High School. 

The event drew area kids between the ages of 9-14 to showcase their basketball shooting skills. Champions in the girls’ division were Aricka Moore, Rachael Courneya, Shelby Baumgart, and Katie Courneya. Boys’ division champions were Carson Courneya, William Davis, Coltyn Pender, Nolyn Prellwitz, and Hudson Baumgart. 

Each of these winners will now compete in the district competition to be held on Sunday, Feb. 11 at Holy Rosary School in Detroit Lakes, with an eye toward moving on to the regional and state levels.

The Knights of Columbus is the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded in 1882 to assist working-class and immigrant Catholics in the United States, today the approximately two million members of the Knights put their faith into action through a broad range of charitable causes locally, nationally, and internationally with financial contributions and hands-on service.
