0Frazee falls to Pelican Rapids in HOL action

With just three weeks remaining in the regular season, the Frazee Hornets fell to 5-14 overall and 2-8 in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference with a tough 78-53 loss to Pelican Rapids on Thursday night. The game came on the heels of a 51-49 loss to Barnesville at Concordia College on Saturday, Feb. 3.
This week the Hornets will travel to Park Rapids Area on Tuesday night, before traveling to Perham on Friday.
Feb. 2
Frazee picked up a convincing 66-23 win over New York Mills on Friday, Feb. 2. The Hornets jumped out to a 20-0 lead and never looked back as their defense gave NY Mills fits throughout the night. Frazee forced 24 turnovers, while turning it over just 7 times and held a 24-0 advantage in points off of turnovers.
Asher Blaine led the way offensively with 14 points and 6 assists, while Adam Vigen finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
Carter Sonnenberg and Alex Helmers each scored 12 points, while Cael Pausch scored 7 points and pulled down 8 rebounds.

Feb. 3
A late run in the first half pushed Barnesville in front of Frazee by a score of 31-25 at halftime on Saturday, Feb. 3. The game, which was played at Concordia College, came down to the wire after Frazee mounted a tremendous second half comeback to pull within a basket late in the game.
Unfortunately, Barnesville was able to do just enough to come away with a 51-49 win over Frazee.
Adam Vigen had a big night from the field as he hit five 3-pointers to come away with a game-high 22 points. Carter Sonnenberg finished with a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Alex Helmers hit three 3-pointers to finish with 10 points.

Thursday
Pelican Rapids took advantage of some home cooking on Thursday night as the Vikings shot 47.5 percent from the field and hit nine 3-pointers to come away with a 78-53 win in HOL Conference action.
Frazee trailed 40-22 at halftime, but picked up the pace in the second half as they scored 31 points in the final 18 minutes of action. The Hornets stayed in the game thanks to a hot night behind the 3-point line as they went 8-18 from 3-point range.
Unfortunately, Pelican Rapids made the most of 20 Frazee turnovers that led to 28 points off of turnovers for the Vikings.
Adam Vigen once again had a solid night behind the 3-point line as he went 4-5 from behind the arc to finish with 17 points. Alex Helmers scored 17 points of his own thanks to a pair of 3-pointers.
