With an initial gift of $5,000, the local Chapter of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) has created a scholarship to benefit veterans with a financial need who are attending M State Fergus Falls. 

DAV Chapter 25 Treasurer Dennis Johnson said funding for the scholarship is generated through community donations of unwanted clothing at DAV collection bins in Fergus Falls. 

“We’d like to say thank you to the community for the donations. Without them we couldn’t function,” said Johnson, himself an M State graduate who attended college under the GI Bill in the 1970s and who appreciates the opportunity to help other military veterans.
