The Frazee Hornets dropped a pair of tough games last week to Park Rapids Area and Perham.
The Hornets, who are 5-16 overall and 2-9 in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference, will look to rebound this week with a busy slate of games on tap. Frazee will host Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal on Tuesday night, before traveling to Menahga on Thursday night.
The Hornets will return home on Friday night for their final conference game of the season against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton.
Tuesday
Park Rapids chucked the ball up from behind the 3-point line at an amazing clip on Tuesday night as the Panthers were able to get the best of the Frazee Hornets by a score of 74-55 on Tuesday night. The Panthers went 16-35 from behind the 3-point line, and actually shot at a higher percentage from behind the 3-point line than at close range. The team went just 11-29 from inside the 3-point line.
Despite their success from behind the 3-point line, the Hornets were able to stay in the game thanks to a strong defensive pressure by forcing 20 turnovers which led the 25 points off of turnovers. The Hornets also held a 28-22 advantage in points in the paint.
After trailing by a score of 42-26 at halftime, the Hornets were able to match the Panthers in the second half and were outscored just 32-29 in the final 18 minutes of action.
Carter Sonnenberg led the way offensively for Frazee with 17 points, while Adam Vigen scored 12 points and finished with 6 steals. Alex Helmers also reached double figures with 11 points, while Asher Blaine finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds.
