Frazee to host LPA in regular season finale

The Frazee Hornets snapped a five game losing streak on Thursday night as they defeated the Menahga Braves 73-54 in non-conference action. The Hornets had three games last week as they fell to Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal by a score of 63-62 in overtime, as well as fell to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton by a score of 81-70 in conference action.

Frazee has just one game left on their schedule as they host Lake Park-Audubon on Friday night to wrap up their regular season. 

Tuesday

Frazee looked poised to snap its four game losing streak on Tuesday night, but was unable to hold off Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal in overtime as the Hornets fell by a score of 63-62.

The Hornets held a 27-25 lead at halftime, but the Titans fought back and actually led late in the second half, before Frazee was able to tie it up late in the contest. In overtime the Titans were able to get the best of the Hornets by a 3-2 margin to come away with the win.

Adam Vigen led the team offensively with 18 points, while Carter Sonnenberg recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds and Alex Helmers scored 15 points in the loss. 

Nathan Longfors scored 6 points, Asher Blaine finished with 5 points and 7 assists and Cael Pausch finished with 2 points.

Thursday

Menahga led early, but just a few minutes into the first half the Frazee offense got going and never looked back as they defeated the Braves by a score of 73-54 on Thursday night. The Hornets led by a score of 29-22 at halftime, before outscoring the Braves by a 44-32 margin down the stretch. As a team, the Hornets made an amazing 13 3-pointers and were led by Asher Blaine who went 5-11 from behind the 3-point line to finish with 21 points, while Alex Helmers went 4-8 from behind the 3-point line to finish with a team-high 23 points. 

Defensively Frazee forced 21 turnovers that led the 19 points off of turnovers and 18 transition points. 

In addition to Helmers and Blaine, Frazee was led offensively by Adam Vigen who scored 13 points, while Carter Sonnenberg and Ayden Grossman each scored 6 points, Dawson Lyman scored 3 points and Cael Pausch rounded out the scoring with 1 point. 

Friday

In their final Heart O’ Lakes Conference game of the season, the Frazee Hornets came up just short in its bid to upend the Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Rebels on Friday night by a score of 81-70. Frazee trailed just 35-31 at the half and were unable to overtake the Rebels in the second half despite shooting 40 percent from the field and knocking down 12 3-pointers in the game. The big difference in the game came at the free throw line as the Rebels went 22-24 from the free throw line, while the Hornets went just 8-12. 

Asher Blaine once again had a big night from the floor as he scored 22 points and went 5-9 from behind the 3-point line. Alex Helmers scored 18 points and hit four 3-pointers, Adam Vigen scored 14 points, Carter Sonnenberg added 10 points, Cael Pausch scored 3 points and Nathan Longfors rounded out the scoring with 2 points.
