Hornets end season with 8-19 record

Fresh off an opening round win against Lake Park-Audubon by a score of 73-58 last Monday night, the Frazee Hornets ran into a buzz saw in the form of the fourth ranked and top seeded Henning Hornets on Thursday night. Frazee, who was seeded eighth in the sub section, fell to Henning by a score of 82-53 to end their season with a record of 8-19 overall. 

After a back and forth start to the first half, Henning began pulling away late in the opening 18 minutes of the game to take a 49-31 lead at the break. In the second half Henning continued to take advantage of their home court advantage on the offensive end of the court to come away with an 82-53 win. Henning shot 62.5 percent from the field and went 15-23 from behind the 3-point line.

Frazee made the most of every possession on Thursday night as they turned the ball over just 11 times in the game and shot 37.3 percent from the field. They also hit a total of seven 3-pointers in the loss. 

Three Frazee players finished the game in double figures with Alex Helmers leading the way with 18 points. He hit four 3-pointers in the loss. Asher Blaine went 7-14 from the field and finished with 17 points, while Carter Sonnenberg scored 13 points and pulled down a team-high 8 rebounds. 

Adam Vigen and Conner Erickson each scored 2 points, while Nathan Longfors rounded out the scoring with 1 point. 

The Hornets finished their season with a record of 8-19 overall and went 3-2 in their final five games of the year.
