State championship set for April 6 in St. Cloud

The Knights of Columbus recently hosted their 2024 Region 6 Free Throw Championship on Sunday, March 3 at Sauk Centre High School. The event drew the winners of area district level contests from across central and west-central Minnesota, including the following participants from Frazee: Hudson Baumgart, Katie Courneya, Nolyn Prellwitz, Shelby Baumgart and Rachael Courneya. 

For the second consecutive year, competitors from communities along the Highway 10 basketball corridor (Detroit Lakes, Frazee, Hawley, and Perham) dominated the region competition, winning 9 out of the 12 division championships. 

Boys’ division champions from Frazee included Hudson Baumgart and Nolyn Prellwitz. Region champions crowned in the girls’ division included Katie Courneya. The region champions will now compete in the state competition to be held on Saturday, April 6 in St. Cloud, with an eye on moving to the international level.
