Kenneth James Carrabou, 56, died as a result of a garage fire on Tuesday, March 12, in Detroit Township.

On Tuesday, at approximately 5:01 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to a report of a garage on fire at 25508 Brandy Lake Road, according to the Becker County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival, the garage was found to be fully engulfed in flames. 

A male victim had been found in the garage by a neighbor and family members pulled him out prior to the arrival of emergency responders. Carrabou suffered what appeared to be life-threatening injuries.

Carrabou was transported by air to the Hennepin County Medical Center where he later passed away. 

Local fire crews were able to contain the fire to the garage and not spread to the home.

The State Fire Marshall is conducting an investigation and will release the the cause of the fire, upon determination.

The Detroit Lakes Fire Department, Essentia-St. Mary’s EMS, Life Link III, Audubon Fire Department, and Becker County Sheriff’s Office assisted with this incident which remains under investigation
