A record number of boys golfers are gearing up to hit the links at Frazee High School this spring—when the snow finally melts that is.
A total of 23 people have went out for golf this year at Frazee High School, many of whom are new to the sport of high school golf. Head coach Jason Reierson said he is excited to get the team on the links and learn the ins and outs of the sport.
“I am looking forward to getting to know all these new guys. Many of them are new to the sport and that can be challenging but they can improve so quickly and that can be fun,” he said.
A pair of returning letter winners will be leading the charge for Frazee this year. Adam Vigen and Ben Reierson are returning to the line up and could be joined by non-letter winners Caydin Wallin, Gavin Pope, Danny Winn, Tyler Lindell and Brodie Mausbach who could all make an impact on the varsity level.
The team will look to replace Max Rue in the line up who graduated last year.
Reierson said the team is hoping to be competitive in the Heart O’ Lakes Conference and potentially advance a few people in to the state competition. As far as conference favorites, Barnesville and Hawley will be among the leaders, while the Hornets gear up for a new section this year as they will be joining Section 6A after spending the past several season in Section 8AA.
