The Frazee Hornets picked up a pair of wins in the annual Frazee softball tournament on Saturday.

In the opening game of the day, the Hornets took advantage of a big three run bottom of the third inning when Evie Seim hit a two out RBI single and Hailee Olson followed with a two-run single to make the game 3-1 in favor of the Hornets.

Frazee added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning when Riyan Eckert scored on an RBI single by Trieglaff to come away with a 4-1 win over Mahnomen/Waubun.

Eckert picked up the win on the rubber as she went five innings and gave up just one run and five hits, while striking out six batters. Trieglaff pitched the final two innings and gave up just two hits and struck out four hitters.

In the second game of the day, the Hornets were able to defeat Pine River-Backus in walk-off fashion by a score of 9-8.

In a wild game offensively, Frazee jumped out to an early 3-0 lead when Rylea Sandberg hit a two-run single with two outs to make the score 3-0. Frazee added another run in the second inning, a pair of runs on an Ashley Malikowski two-run home run in the third inning and a pair of runs on fielder’s choices in the fourth inning.

With the score tied at 8-8 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Trieglaff led off the inning with a single, before Sandberg followed with a single of her own to leave a pair of runners on and no outs. Layla Post wasted little time in making it three straight singles for the Hornets to end the game in walk-off fashion with an RBI single to bring Trieglaff around to score to end the game 9-8.
