Mother Nature was not kind to the Frazee Hornet spring sports teams last week. One of the few teams that was able to get a game in before inclement weather took hold of the area last week was the Frazee softball team.

Unfortunately, the Hornets dropped a tough non-conference game to Park Rapids Area by a score of 7-2.

The Panthers scored a pair of runs in the third inning, one run each in the fourth and sixth innings and three more in the top of the seventh inning.

The Hornets got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning when Evie Seim reached on an error with one out. She would later cross the plate on a Hailee Olson single to make the score 4-1 in favor of the Panthers.

Frazee added another run in the bottom of the seventh inning and had a chance to score more as well when Ellie Trieglaff was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second base with no outs. Unfortunately, Trieglaff would be the lone runner to cross the plate as the Hornets kept the pressure on the Panthers but were just unable to get the timely hit they needed down the stretch. The Hornets would eventually lose by a score of 7-2.

Olson, Ashley Malikowski, Rylea Sandberg and Brea Paurus all led the way offensively with one hit apiece.

Riyan Eckert took the loss on the mound as she gave up seven runs and 12 hits, while striking out four hitters in the game.

This week the Hornets will host Sebeka on Thursday night in their lone games of the week. On Monday, April 29, the Hornets will travel to New York Mills for a non-conference game against the Eagles.
