Several Hornets placed in top three overall

Elsie Ratz took sixth place in the long jump during the HOL Conference meet last week.

The new Frazee-Vergas High School track took center stage on Tuesday night for the annual Heart ‘O Lakes Conference meet. The new track opened this season and was abuzz with activity throughout the day as the Hornets came away with one individual championship when Nathan Longfors took first place in the triple jump, while several Hornets placed in the top five individually in the always competitive meet. 

Hailey Selly posted a season best time in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49.51 to finish in second place, while she also finished in seventh place in the long jump with a jump of 14’11”. 

Jayden Sonnenberg took second place in the high jump with a jump of 5’2” and she finished in sixth place in the triple jump with a jump of 34’.

Aubree Bristlin posted a season best time in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dash last week.

Aynslee Johannsen took second place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.9. 

Elsie Ratz took third place in the 800-meter run with a season best time of 2:28.36, while she also took sixth place in the long jump with a jump of 15’1”. 

Leslie Moore took fifth place in the discus with a throw of 90’9” and eighth place in the shot put with a throw of 31’4”. 

On the boys side, the Hornets once again fared well in the field events with Longfors taking first place in the triple jump with a jump of 41’8” and second place in the long jump with a jump of 19’ 1/2”. Brady Crabtree took second place in the pole vault with a vault of 12’6” and finished in fourth place in the long jump with a season best 18’ 8 3/4”. He also took fourth place in the 110-meter hurdles with a season best time of 16.87.

Carter Sonnenberg took third place in the high jump with a jump of 6’ and Tyden Schaefer took third place in the pole vault with a vault of 11’6”.
