The fifth seeded Frazee Hornets had their season come to an end on Thursday night when they fell to fourth seeded Sebeka by a score of 7-2. The Trojans scored a pair of runs in the second, one in the fourth and four more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to put the game out of reach.

Frazee had its chances to score throughout the game as they had the bases loaded with just one out in the top of the second inning, but were unable to come away with a run as the Trojans struck out back-to-back hitters to get out of the jam.

The Hornets also had runners on second and third base with two outs in the fifth inning, but once again had the comeback attempt ended on a strikeout.

Trailing 7-0 heading into the top of the seventh inning, Frazee made a game of it late as the opening hitter of the inning struck out, before the next four hitters reached base safely. Drew Mekalson and Asher Blaine hit back-to-back RBI singles to make the score 7-2 in favor of the Trojans. Unfortunately, the comeback attempt fell just short as Frazee’s season came to an end by a score of 7-2.

Blaine led the way offensively with a pair of hits. He also took the loss on the mound as he went 3 1/3 innings and gave up three hits and two earned runs, while striking out six hitters. Unfortunately for the Hornets, the team committed six errors that led to four unearned runs.

The Hornets ended their season with a record of 7-13 overall. The Trojans will now advance to take on top seeded New York Mills in the Section 5A tournament on Tuesday in NY Mills.

In their only other action last week, the Hornets defeated Pelican Rapids by a score of 5-4 on Monday night to wrap up their regular season.
