Space Day event on June 13

3-2-1 Blast Off! Lake Agassiz Regional Library is bringing an outer space-themed Summer Library Experience to youth and teens in Detroit Lakes and the surrounding communities. Beginning June 1, participants can read to win prizes as well as attend out-of-this world programs, which will be held weekly on Thursdays at 2 p.m. in Detroit Lakes. Most programs will take place at the Detroit Lakes City Park Bandshell. Participants are encouraged to stop by their local library or LINK Site to pick up a reading log beginning June 1. 

The fun kicks off on Thursday, June 6 at 2 p.m. with Book Bingo at the Detroit Lakes City Park Bandshell, with prizes including t-shirts, posters, notebooks and books. The following week on Thursday, June 13 at 2 p.m., the library will host Space Day at the Becker County Museum, which will include a tour of the Museum’s interactive UFO exhibit and the opportunity to create a space-themed craft to take home. The Summer Library Experience is a program of Lake Agassiz Regional Library and will be offered from June 1-July 31 at libraries and LINK Sites in the following communities: Ada, Bagley, Barnesville, Breckenridge, Climax, Crookston, Detroit Lakes, Fertile, Fosston, Hawley, Mahnomen, McIntosh and Moorhead. LARL’s LINK sites are found in Cormorant, Frazee, Gonvick, Halstad, Hendrum, Lake Park, Rothsay, Twin Valley and Ulen.  A number of fun programs will be held in connection with the reading challenge, including Magic Shows, theater productions, craft events and much more.
