4×400-meter relay team edges Cotter/Hope Lutheran by .01 seconds

The Frazee Hornet 4×400-meter relay team took fifth place in Friday’s final at the state track meet.

The Frazee Hornet 4×400-meter relay team wrapped up another successful season on the track with a fifth place finish at the state track meet on Friday afternoon. 

The team of Aynslee Johannsen, Hailey Selly, Elsie Ratz and Jayden Sonnenberg ran a blistering time of 4:07.48 to edge the team from Cotter/Hope Lutheran by .01 seconds. The team from St. Charles was also just .13 seconds behind the Hornets as they took seventh place. Eden-Valley Watkins won the event with a time of 4:02.48.

Frazee qualified for the finals after taking seventh place in the prelims with a time of 4:11.46. 

  The Hornets 4×200-meter relay team of Sonnenberg, Selly, Ratz and Aubree Bristlin took 17th place in the preliminaries with a time of 1:49.99. 

 The Frazee Hornet 4×400-meter relay team took fifth place in Friday’s final at the state track meet.

Individually, Sonnenberg finished in a tie for ninth place in the high jump when the sophomore completed a jump of 5’1”. The winner of the event was McKaylen Lewis of Math and Science Academy with a jump of 5’5”. 

On the boys side, Brady Crabtree wrapped up his senior season of track with a sixth place finish in the pole vault with a vault of 13’6”. The winner of the event was Joseph Arens of St. Croix Prep with a vault of 14’3”. 

The state track and field meet was held at St. Michael-Albertville High School from Thursday through Saturday.
