Hank Ludtke, of Frazee, will vie for one of two spots in the upcoming Primary Election in August to determine who is on the ballot for the District 3 Commissioner’s seat in Becker County during November’s General Election Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Frazee Economic Development Authority Chairman and former Mayor Hank Ludtke is one of three candidates vying for the District 3 Commissioner opening in Becker County.

There are three seats up for election this year.

Ludtke will run against Phil Hansen and Terry L. Mackner for the District 3 seat that will be vacated by outgoing Board Chairman John Okeson, who announced earlier this year that he is not running for reelection.

District 3 includes” Burlington Township, Erie Township, Homesville Township, Lake View Township, and the City of Frazee.

District 5 incumbent Barry Nelson will be challenged by Jack Heisler and David E. Shaw.

District 5 includes: Atlanta Township, Callaway Township, Cormorant Township, Cuba Township, Hamden Township, Lake Eunice Township, Lake Park Township, Maple Grove Township, Riceville Township, Spring Creek Township, Walworth Township, White Earth Township, City of Callaway, City of Lake Park, City of Ogema.

District 4 incumbent Richard Vareberg will run against Jason Dale Bristlin and Donald Skarie.

Only two of the three candidates in each race will advance to the General Election in November. Those will be the top two vote-getters from the Minnesota Primary Election, which will be held on Tuesday, August 13.

District 4 includes: Audubon Township, Detroit Township Precinct 1, Richwood Township, City of Audubon, City of Detroit Lakes Ward 1.

District 1 Commissioner Erica Jepson and District 2 Commissioner David Meyer are halfway through their terms which end in 2026.
