The section Section 8AA golf meet was June 3-4 at the Bemidji town and country club. There are 16 teams in Frazee’s section with the defending Class AAA third place team a year ago Detroit Lakes added to the section this year. The top six teams plus the next 12 individuals survive the first day cut to play on the second day. 

Gracie Fales competed at the Section 8AA championship at Bemidji Town and Country Club on June 3.

Frazee had no players make it to the second day. It took a score of 98 to make the second day cut. Gracie Fales led the Hornets with a 103. Rylee Stock had a 108 Emma Wiseman 113, Onalea Maijala a 118, Lilly Adams a 119, and Ella Perala, a 123. Frazee finished in a tie for 14th place.

Detroit Lakes won the section championship by 66 shots over Runner up Fergus Falls. Detroit Lakes also went on to win the Class AA state championship by 11 shots. Sophie Cook from Hawley was the section medalist individually with a two day total of 148. She would go on to finish in fourth place at the state tournament.

The Hornets had their banquet on June 11 after the Frazee golf fundraiser tournament. The team earned the gold academic award with a GPA 3.92. Earning letters for the Hornets were Emma Wiseman, Rylee Stock, Gracie Fales, Lilly Adams, Ella Perala, Onalea Maijala, Liberty Peterson and Emma Beimert. 

Team awards went to Rylee Stock with the most dedicated and most improved golfer, and Emma Wiseman was named the most valuable golfer.

“All of the girls showed a lot of improvement this season and promise for the future. We have no seniors this year so we are excited for the prospect of our team next year. Hopefully the girls get out and play in the summer and improve their games.” said head coach David Conzemius.
