The Frazee Post 15 Legion team swept Park Rapids in a doubleheader on Friday night by scores of 16-8 and 2-1. 

The two wins comes in the heels of a pair of losses to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on June 7.

The Frazee Hornets opened its Legion baseball season with a pair of losses to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton on June 7. 

Frazee Post 15 dropped the opening game of the night by a score of 8-0 after four errors led to six unearned DGF runs. DGF opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning on a two out RBI single, before scoring six unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. DGF added another run in the sixth inning on a two out RBI double to make the score 8-0. 

Asher Blaine took the loss on the mound after pitching six innings, giving up five hits and just two unearned runs. He walked five batters and struck out seven.

Post 15 pocked up just two hits in the game, a single by both Karson Krause and Mason Mickelson.

In the second game of the day, DGF edged Post 15 by a score of 2-1. 

DGF scored a pair of runs in the top of the second inning thanks to a fielder’s choice and RBI single. They were able to load up the bases, but Drew Mekalson came into the game and forced a ground out before more damage could be done. 

Post 15 was able to make the score 2-1 in the bottom of the second inning when Krause scored on a failed pick off play at first base. Frazee was able to keep the game within striking distance and had the tying run on base in three of the next five innings, but were ultimately unable to get him across the plate.

  Drew Mekalson led the way offensively with Frazee’s lone hit for the game. He also picked up the loss on the mound as he went all seven innings and gave up just four hits and two earned runs, while striking out two hitters

Post 15 swept a pair of games against Park Rapids on Friday night by scores of 16-8 and 2-1. 

In the opening game of the night, Post 15 scored runs in bunches in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to blow past Park Rapids by a score of 16-8. 

Cael Pausch led off the game in the top of the first inning with a triple, before Drew Mekalson brought him across the plate with an RBI single. 

Frazee took advantage of three Park Rapids errors in the top of the fourth inning to score four runs and take a 6-3 lead, only to give up four runs to Park Rapids in the bottom half of the fourth inning and trail 7-6. 

Park Rapids surrendered four more errors in the top of the fifth inning, which led to seven runs and put Frazee in front by a score of 13-7. Frazee added three more runs in the top of the sixth inning on a hit batter, bases loaded walk and sacrifice fly to take a 16-7 lead.  Park Rapids scored a run in the bottom half of the sixth inning , but Mekalson stranded runners on second and third base with three straight strikeouts to come away with the 16-8 win. 

Pausch, Asher Blaine and Jesse Rollins each led the way offensively with two hits apiece, while Blaine finished with three RBIs. 

Pausch pitched the opening three innings of the game and gave up three hits and three earned runs, while striking out five hitters. Mekalson picked up the win in relief after pitching three innings and giving up three hits, one earned run and striking out six hitters. 

In the second game of the night, Post 15 defeated Park Rapids in walk-off fashion by a score of 2-1. 

After Karson Krause tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning on a two-out RBI single, Noah Mekalson scored on a Dawson Lyman squeeze to make the score 2-1 in favor of Post 15. 

Derek Zitzow picked up the win on the mound for Post 15 as he went five innings and gave up three hits, one run and struck out eight hitters.
