The Frazee Post 15 Legion baseball team improved to 5-8-1 last week with a pair of wins over the Pelican Rapids Orange Sox.

Frazee opened the week with a pair of losses to Barnesville by scores of 9-2 and 2-1, before sweeping a doubleheader on Friday night on the road in Pelican Rapids.

Post 15 wrapped up their regular season on Monday night when they traveled to New York Mills for a doubleheader. Results from Monday’s game were not available at the time of press.

Wednesday

Bolgrean and Elhert of Barnesville combined to throw a no-hitter as Barnesville was able to defeat Frazee by a score of 9-2 in the opening game of a doubleheader on Wednesday night.

Frazee scored a pair of runs, including the top of the second inning when a pair of Post 15 hitters reached on errors and Logan Brekke connected for a sacrifice fly to center field to tie the game up at 1-1. Frazee added another run in the top of the sixth inning when Chandler Ulrich reached on an error that allowed Asher Blaine to score from third base.

On a positive side, the Frazee pitchers were solid on the mound as Blaine, Derek Zitzow and Cael Pausch combined to give up just six hits and three earned runs in the loss. They did walk seven hitters and combined to strike out 15 hitters. Unfortunately, Frazee committed three errors in the field.

Blaine took the loss on the mound by going 3 2/3 innings and giving up four hits, two earned runs, four walks, but he struck out nine hitters.

Pitching once again took center stage during the second game of the night as Barnesville and Frazee combined to give up just eight hits and three runs as Barnesville defeated Post 15 by a score of 2-1.

The difference in the game came in the top of the first inning when Barnesville connected for a two out, two-run single to make the score 2-0.

Frazee had its chances to win the game as it had at least one runner on base in every inning during the nightcap. The lone run of the game came in the bottom of the third inning when Pausch scored on a passed ball with two outs in the inning.

Down 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning, Jesse Rollins earned a walk and Pausch was hit by a pitch to leave runners on first and second base with just one out. Unfortunately, they were stranded on base as the next two hitters went down in order to end the game by a score of 2-1.

Pausch, Drew Mekalson and Ulrich all picked up hits for Post 15, while Mekalson took the loss on the mound by going five innings and giving up just five hits and two earned runs.
