Filing for Frazee-Vergas School Board seats to be held from July 30 to August 13

Vergas Council candidate filing opens July 30

The following local Vergas races will be up for election at the  general election:

• Mayor of Vergas – 2-year term

• Two Council Seats – 4-year term

  Filing for these positions will begin on Tuesday, July 30, and runs through Tuesday, Aug. 13.  Anyone interested in running for one of these positions, must file for office between these dates.  File at the Vergas City Office 131 Main Street Vergas. 

There is a filing fee of $2.

Office Hours:

• July 30-Aug. 1, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Aug. 5-8, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

• Saturday, Aug. 10,  10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

• Aug. 12-13, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The election of these positions will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Qualifications for city office in Vergas include:

• Be eligible to vote in Minnesota

• Must be 21 years of age or older when assuming office

• Have maintained residence in this district for at least 30 days before the general election

Frazee-Vergas School Board

Filing for the Frazee-Vergas School board will take place from July 30 through August 13. There are three spots up for election on the Frazee-Vergas School Board for a term of four years apiece. 

Affidavits of Candidacy are available from the school district clerk, 305 North Lake Street, Frazee, MN 56544. The filing fee for this office is $2. 

A candidate for this office must be an eligible voter, must be 21 years of age or more on assuming office, must have been a resident of the school district from which the candidate seeks election for thirty (30) days before the general election, and must have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same primary or next ensuing general election. 

The affidavits of candidacy must be filed in the office of the school district clerk and the filing fee paid prior to 5 p.m. on August 13.
