A 29-year-old Frazee man has been sentenced for misdemeanor domestic assault in Becker County District Court.

According to court records, a Frazee police officer was dispatched on a report of a domestic assault at a Frazee residence. A woman told the officer her boyfriend, Dammin Joel Zuniga, punched her in the face. 

According to reports, the woman had observable wounds, a swollen right eye that bleeding and discolored. Zuniga exited the home while the woman was speaking with the officer and was detained.

He reportedly admitted to striking the woman and was arrested.

The woman also reported that Zuniga assaulted her with a knife approximately two months prior.

The woman was taken to the emergency room. Zuniga was taken to Becker County Jail.

Zuniga appeared before District Judge Doug Clark on Tuesday, April 23 and was sentenced to 60 days in jail. He was credited for serving 44 days and fined $50 plus $160 in court fees.

A third-degree felony assault charge was dismissed in a plea agreement.
