A Frazee man was arrested following a fatal shooting at the Acorn Lake trailer park in Burlington Township of rural Frazee.

The Becker County Sheriff’s Office received a report  of an adult male being shot at 30397 US Hwy. 10, Lot #12, Frazee, at approximately 1:20 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 10.

Emergency personnel responded, and after lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful, the adult male, Arlan Ray Bergstrom, Jr., age 31, of Detroit Lakes, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

At approximately 2 a.m., Willis Charles McDonald, age 31, of rural Frazee, was arrested in connection with the incident at a residence south of Frazee, in Otter Tail County.

McDonald was booked into the Becker County Jail pending further investigation. He has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder – Without Intent and 1st Degree Manslaughter – While Committing Gross Misdemeanor/Misdemeanor with Violence.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Frazee Police Department, Detroit Lakes Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Essentia- St. Mary’s EMS, Frazee Fire Department, and Sanford Air Care.

This is believed to be an isolated incident and no perceived threat to the public, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office. The incident remains under investigation.
