Cultural Center in NYM to host storytelling workshop

0The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center has announced a new workshop series to help individuals unlock their storytelling potential. The Cultural Center will host “Storytelling: From Beginning to End” Wednesday workshop series and competition event beginning Aug. 21 and culminating on Oct. 2.
Are you passionate about storytelling? Whether you’re intrigued by real-life narratives or the enchantment of fiction, our “Storytelling: From Beginning to End” workshop series offers a unique opportunity to refine your skills and showcase your talent.
Beginning on August 21, and running through September 18, join the Cultural Center in NY Mills for five engaging workshops every Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. Led by a dynamic group of instructors including Mark Pagán, Chuck Johnson, and Cindy Salo, participants will delve into the art of storytelling, learning how to craft compelling plots, develop unforgettable characters and perfect their performance.
The series kicks off with Visiting Artist and Expert Storytelling Mark Pagán from New York City introducing basic storytelling principles. Subsequent sessions will cover story structuring, crafting effective beginnings and endings, performance preparation, and final storytelling insights. Each week features hands-on exercises and valuable feedback.
On Wednesday, Oct. 2, don’t miss our grand finale—a live storytelling competition. Showcase your newly honed skills before an audience, who will engage by voting on whether each story is fact or fiction, and select the most captivating storyteller.
Registration is now open online, with fees of $15 per workshop or $50 for the full series of five. Scholarships are available.
