Vergas has another merchant on Main Street. Elm Street Boutique recently moved into its new digs, at 146 East Main Street. Owner Susan Johnson opened the clothing store several years ago on a side street. I’m very happy to be on Main Street.”
The Frazee Economic Development Authority (EDA) agreed to consider up to a $60,000, 10-year-loan to Frazee resident David Jopp to purchase the old bank building at the price of $200,000. His wife Aleisa Jopp is currently renting a portion of the building on the corner of Main Avenue and Lake Street for retail space from Brad and Amber Bender. EDA member Hank Ludtke asked if the purchase was contract for deed. Jopp stated that it was not. He also presented the EDA with a business plan, which the group had requested at a past meeting.

Frazee barber Joe Riewer plans to put up a new barbershop, but not in the near future. At a recent meeting, the Frazee City Council approved a purchase agreement with Riewer for the sale of a city lot on West Main Avenue, across from United Community Bank. Riewer said at this point, he’s unsure about when the building project will start or be completed, or what type of building it will be. “I won’t do anything until after the street work is done,” he said. “I suspect it won’t be in anytime this year. I’d just as soon be here (in his current barber shop, between the Cedar Inn and Carlito’s Cantina & Mexican Restaurant) the rest of the year.”
