The annual Frazee city audit informed council members two enterprise funds are decreasing, but the bookkeeping issues the city faced last year are improving. The city appointed auditor, Colleen Hoffman, explained the enterprise funds include the city sewer and water, as well as the liquor store operation and event center. Hoffman gave the city high praise when it came to providing enough operating income for the utilities funds. She said the grant funding the city received recently for utility projects helped immensely in keeping the funds solvent.

Kevin Glawe is helping rebuild the Monarch population. In the past two years he has raised 280 Monarchs from caterpillar to the butterfly. “I read about the Monarchs and learned that in the wild only two out of 10 make it to a butterfly,” he said, noting there are plenty of predators in nature and man made obstacles that reduce the lifespan of the orange and black insect.

It’s a family affair! We are having a Bike-Hike on Sunday, Sept. 22 which starts at Eagle Lake Park at 1:30 p.m. The bikers will bike to Vergas and back. The hikers will hike on Eagle Lake Road to the Richard Rice home and back to the Park. Not only will you be having a fun time, you will also be helping the Day Activity Center in Detroit Lakes. The idea is to find a sponsor of the miles you plan on hiking or biking. You do not have to go the full distance. A sponsor can be a relative, friend, or neighbor. The donations you collect will be turned over on Sunday when you come to the Park. Now is the time to find sponsors and collect from them.
