0Art comes in many forms and is a cherished creative outlet throughout our lifetime. To that end, the Cormorant Area Art Club (CAAC) was originally founded in 1998 by Cormorant area resident DeVaughn Kolke along with other motivated artists who shared the vision of promoting arts in the area. In June of 2003, the CAAC became a non-profit organization. The CAAC is achieving the vision of supporting the advancement of arts in area schools through the DeVaughn Kolke Art Scholarship Fund.
On Tuesday, Oct. 1, the Lake Park-Audubon Art department was awarded a $500 scholarship funded by community donations during the CAAC annual Art Show.
CAAC members Mary Moeller and Carol Mermon presented the award to LPA Art instructor, Hannah Moller. Hannah and her students will be generating ideas for the use of the award this fall so be on the outlook for new art in the Lake Park-Audubon communities.
Past scholarship recipients include Hawley Public Schools in 2023 and Frazee Public Schools in 2022.
The CAAC typically meets twice monthly at the Cormorant Community Center and offers workshops on all mediums of art, there truly is something for everyone. The next Art Show will be on July 12 and 13, 2025. CAAC welcomes new members and encourages visits to their website at artcaac.weebly to learn more about the organization.
