A Vergas man collided with a Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railway locomotive on Friday, Oct. 4, in rural Vergas, according to an Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office press release.

At approximately 6:20 p.m., Otter Tail County Dispatch responded to a reported collision between a motor vehicle and a train on a private driveway near the intersection of County Highway 17 and Candor Hall Road.

First responders found the driver, Frank Vana, 69, of Vergas uninjured. His vehicle sustained minor damage; the locomotive was undamaged.

Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the incident and no reports of injuries to the train crew were reported.
