The Anderson Brothers Construction Company of Brainerd wants the City of Vergas to pay twice for a job that should’ve been done once. And, the Vergas City Council has agreed. The council learned they were financially under the gun during a special meeting held on Tuesday, Oct. 22, and needed to concede to the companies demand or risk financial ruin. The Anderson Brothers were awarded the $682,347 for a street project that included several sections of town. The work spanned from fixing streets, installing curb and gutters, bringing two streets in a new development up to city standards and more.

Tim Schmit laid down in a hospital bed and was wheeled to the surgical room for a triple bypass. When he woke up he could’t move the left side of his body. “I had the triple bypass on Aug. 1,” he said. “The night after the surgery I had a stroke. When I woke up and could’t move my left side and it was terrifying.” With love and determination, the emotional clouds have begun parting on those frightening days. A benefit is set for Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Frazee Event Center.
