A youthful Frazee Hornet cross country team competed in the Section 8A meet in Bagley on Friday afternoon. The Hornets, as they have been all season long, were led by a bevy of underclassmen as no seniors competed for Frazee at the section cross country meet.

With just two juniors on the girls team and the remainder of the students being in 7-10th grade and three freshmen and a junior on the boys team, the Hornets have a chance to continue to grow over the next few years on the race course.

The boys team was led by junior Jonah Sharp, who was the first Hornet to cross the finish line as he took 29th place with a time of 19:04.7. Freshman Paul Sharp was right on his tail as he took 29th place with a time of 19:04.7, while fellow freshman Talon Hoverson finished in 52nd place with a time of 20:05.4 and freshman Eli Heston took 87th place with a time of 22:17.5.

The boys team took ninth place as a team with a score of 271. Hawley won the meet with a score of 48, while Park Rapids Area took second with 60 points.

On the girls side, the Hornets were  led by a pair of junior high students as seventh grader Rilynn Ruiz finished in 48th place with a time of 22:39.9 and eighth grader Brooklyn Riewer finished in 49th place with a time of 22:41.5.

Junior Lola Hoehne was right on their tails as she finished in 52nd place with a time of 22:58.1, freshman Madi Perrine finished in 72nd place with a time of 24:30.9, sophomore Bristol Larsen finished in 74th place with a time of 24:35.2 and junior Caleigh Pausch finished in 88th place with a time of 25:39.

As a team the Hornets took 12th place out of 16 teams with a score of 283. United North Central won the meet with a score of 41, while Hawley took second place with a score of 53.
