The Wolf Lake City Council, which in August unanimously signaled the city’s intent to sell the municipal liquor store and move forward with an appraisal, has changed liquor store hours and is now discussing the possibility of selling THC drinks.

The discussion, held during the Tuesday, October 8, regular monthly meeting, was followed up with all members of the panel in attendance approving a motion to give liquor store bartenders a dollar an hour raise. Councilor Cassy Makela was absent.

The new liquor store hours include being closed on Sunday and Monday, open from 4-10 p.m. Tuesday, from 12-10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, from 12-11 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday.

Officials are checking into what the insurance cost would be to sell THC drinks at the liquor store.

The context of the discussion involving the possible sale of the store in August was that the store was struggling financially. No other official action has been reported concerning the possible sale or appraisal of the store since August.

The council had also looked into the possibility of selling the liquor store in November of 2022, but sales began improving so officials stopped pursuing the possibility of selling it at that time.
