Last spring a letter sat in Hans Hansons mailbox that would immortalize him. The letter informed the Vergas resident that he was to be inducted into the Minnesota Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame at a fall banquet that was recently held. “I was caught off guard,” he said. “It is quite an honor. There were seven other coaches and they were impressive company to be in.” One of his fellow Hall of Famers was baseball legend Joe Mauer’s high school coach, and the former Twins catcher was present for the ceremony.
The National Park Service is coming to Frazee in a few weeks to walk the land of a potential regional park. About 330 acres along Becker County Highway 29 was put into a trust so the city could try and obtain Legacy Grant funding to purchase the parcel. The park would be a hub for the trails that intersect in Frazee, including the Otter Tail River, North Country Trail and planned Heartland Trail connection between Frazee and Detroit Lakes.
The Parks and Rec Committee inquired about progress with the possible Eagle Lake land sale during its monthly meeting on Monday, Nov. 11. Frazee Administrator Denise Anderson stated Mayor Ken Miosek put that on hold. She added the plan was to have further discussions with the county, city and Department of Natural Resources. The committee, and then the city council, opened discussions on selling Eagle Lake Park several months ago. The park is located outside of city limits, and the idea was to share the funds from the land sale to improve the city beach on Town Lake.ng.

The 75th anniversary of the First Baptist Church of Frazee will be held Sunday, November 17, 1974. An afternoon program is planned beginning at 2 p.m. Former pastors, members and friends of the Church will take part in the program. Everyone is welcome. This Church had it’s beginning in a railroad coach in 1899. Rev. Charles Rust and singer, Arthur Tipton in the fall of 1899 side-tracked their railroad car, named, “Glad Tidings,” in Frazee to preach the Gospel. These two men inspired by the Word of God and led of the Holy Spirit began a ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that is continuing on after 75 years.
Peoples Natural Gas will increase its retail rates for natural gas service according to R. P. Hermann, Division Manager for the Northern Minn. Division, effective with billings on or after November 23, 1974. “This increase will reflect increased gas cost from our pipeline supplier, Midwestern Gas Transmission Company, based on two purchased gas adjustment filings with the Federal Power Commission, one effective August 1, 1974, and the other effective November 1, 1974,” Hermann explained.
Signs along main street read “Think Frazee.” They call out to all concerned citizens of our community to gather together on Monday, Nov. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Lower Elementary Gym for a Community Forum. The forum “Think Frazee” will be sponsored by the Frazee Jaycees and Mrs. Jaycees. The format of the evening is for informal discussion in small groups. All concerned citizens of the Frazee area are encouraged to attend.
