Two years after joining the competitive sport of motocross, the 6-year-old son of Jessica and Tyson Sonnenberg earned the 2019 Motocity Series Championship in both the 50cc Oil and 50cc Multi-Speed classes. Jase also earned a trip to the AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship in Hurricane Mills, Tenn.
Kendal Ware and Lynda Krejce were chosen by the Frazee Area Community Club to lead the 2020 Turkey Days celebration.
The idea of a Christmas celebration came to Aleisa Jopp a few years back, but there wasn’t enough time to get organized. When discussions began about having a day-long celebration, Jopp asked if they should add asking businesses and groups to decorate trees on Main Avenue. After getting a green light from her fellow event planners, she checked with the city and was encouraged to pursue the idea.

A home from Wolf Lake moved through town last week en route to its new site on Spruce Avenue in Frazee. Brenda and Chuck Minge of Rose Lake tore down the structure, which was on the lot to make room for the moved-in house. The Minges plan to fix up the new site and perhaps rent or sell the home.
Meeting Tuesday, the Frazee Education Association (FEA) rejected the Frazee School District’s latest offer for a 1999-2001 teacher contract. The new offer, described as a “one-time verbal offer” would have raised the district’s previous 8.5 percent pay increase to 8.77 percent over two years. The FEA is now waiting to get a mediation date from the state Bureau of Mediation Services, according to FEA Negotiating Committee Co-Chair Dave Goebel.
Frazee Mayor Fred Daggett gave the go-ahead for the Hospice Light Up A Life Ceremony at Frazee Monday night. At his command, the lights on the Hospice tree were lit, along with the new street lights.

Two men who escaped from the Becker County jail in Detroit Lakes on Nov. 17 have been apprehended and will be returned to the jail. Joseph L. Busenberg, 19, of Detroit Lakes was picked up last Tuesday in Chicago, and Michael N. Machinpiness, 22, was picked up last Wednesday in Milwaukee. Becker County Sheriff-elect Jerry Townsend did not comment on the source of information which led to the escapees apprehension, but said both men will face additional charges relating to their escape.
New outdoor Christmas lighting decorations have been installed over Frazee streets for the holiday season. This street decorating project was suggested by the Frazee Mrs. Jaycees. They selected the new decorations and paid one-third of the cost. The Frazee Community Club and the VFW Post 7702 in Frazee each also paid one-third of the cost.
The judging for the Mrs. Jaycees Doll Contest was held on Nov. 25. Winner of the contest and recipient of a $5.00 prize was Mrs. Ray Fredericton of Frazee. The doll she entered and others will be given to needy children at Christmas. If you have any old dolls or toys that can be repaired and donated to children at Christmas, please drop them off at Gary’ Furniture.
